Our Gardening/Work weekends provide visitors with an opportunity to meet and work with people at the Threshold Centre and get a taste of what it is like living in a co-housing community.

The weekend starts with dinner on the Friday evening, and a chance for us all to meet informally and find out what everyone expects from the weekend. On Saturday and Sunday morning we hold an (optional) meditation session and after breakfast we gather to sort out who’s doing what on our list of jobs, before we start work. Coffee, lunch and tea are provided and we tend to wind down at about 4.00 p.m. for some free time before dinner.

Meals are cooked by one or more of our residents, with a little help from our guests! After dinner we either sit and chat or watch a DVD, or go out and see a local film etc. On Sunday morning (which usually starts a bit later!) we work until lunch time and after lunch say our farewells, as most people need to set off on their journey home.

It is helpful if you can bring your own bedding if travelling by car, and you may also need wellies and warm clothing. All tools are provided but if you have your own favourite gloves or hand tools, please feel free to bring them along.

On this Equinox weekend, we will be inviting you to join in with our celebration: on Saturday evening we will be holding a meditation and/or fire circle. On the Sunday morning we will rise with the sun (hopefully!) and hold an early meditation for those who wish. (Exact programme t.b.a.).

There is no charge for this weekend, as we provide bed and board in exchange for your work – though it’s not all work, we have plenty of fun and relaxation time as well! However we do ask for £50 as a deposit/contribution towards our costs for the weekend (see booking form).
